# DegP DegP is a periplasmic protein. In unstressed cells it often forms hexameric complex but in response to protein misfolding or accumulation, it can be "activated" becoming a 12-mer or 24-mer. DegP also co-purifies with outer membrane protein complexes indicating that it has a role in OMP biogenesis. Furthermore, in *degP* Knock-out strains levels of OMPs are decreased backing this notion.
