![[Heorot V1.1 Unreal Render 2.png]] # Welcome This is the journal of me, Josiah Herfurth, and my musings on Beowulf. Here, my notes from roughly five months of [[Worldbuilding Method Map|worldbuilding]] Beowulf are compiled. Throughout this [[A Summary of Process|process]], I have interpreted the classic Old English Epic (primarily Tolkien's translation and commentary), creatively extruding ideas into a more fleshed-out fictional world. This document is an adaptation of two separate documents—a world design document, objectively stating various aspects of the world I built (or rather, interpreted), and a physical worldbuilding journal made of 12x9 paper. ## How to Navigate this Site This site, fittingly built using Obsidian, a software known for acting as a second brain, allows you to get as close to my thinking as possible. Below are a table of contents laying out my concise, approachable, world design document. However, as all writers know, what is on the page rarely expresses all the thinking undergirding ideas. While you can use the outline on the left of the page to navigate, I would ask you to use the graph view to the right to navigate this document. When you click on a page below, from the graph you will see a [[Sequence|spiraling of connected pages]]—the journal entries where a lot of my thinking was explored. For anyone exploring this world on mobile, you are unfortunately limited to the navigation panel. Explore as you like, but note that this experience is significantly enhanced on a desktop or laptop. If you come across a white page, it is a journal entry. This current snapshot comes from the journal as of May 11th, 2025. ## Table of Contents 1. [[Introduction]] 2. [[Orientation]] 3.
