# How to reduce sibilance when singing Be gentle on the delivery of your sibilants. When recording, you don't need to enunciate like you do when performing.[^1] Instead of spreading the mouth, like an \[i] (like the 'ee' in 'green'), relax the mouth into an \[ɶ] (kinda like the 'oo' in 'wood')[^2] sound. You can also lift the tongue a bit from the back of the bottom teeth.[^3] If recording, post-processing and mixing can help sibilants too (see [[How to effectively de-ess]]).
