# Drum sequencing in Reaper One option is to use the JS effect [[MIDI Sequencer Megababy]]. You can do similar things just in the MIDI editor window. Hold opt+cmd to draw in a line of notes.[^3] This follows your grid. To set up one-click note insert, go to Preferences and Mouse modifiers and select MIDI piano roll from the drop-down menu to change the mouse modifiers for easy note inserting. Press alt+2 to enter into note names mode (see [[Reaper MIDI editor]] for more). Go to the Reaper stash to find MIDI drum maps and search for the drum kit you're using. Go to File > Note/CC names > Save/load note names to file.[^4] Another option is to use the Sower extension. One benefit of this over the Megababy workflow is it automatically inserts MIDI data.[^5] [^1]: [Create a MIDI Sequencer for Drums in REAPER (Mega Baby) - YouTube](https://youtu.be/jtNOJsAEjPE?si=IVee9aLqsiRoIuQt) [^2]: [Producing Beats in REAPER - As Easy as FL Studio, Logic, and Pro Tools! - YouTube](https://youtu.be/bsuCiLz1lTo?si=poQFib5HrUTnTkhc) [^3]: [Step Sequencer with the MIDI Editor in REAPER - YouTube](https://youtu.be/7-jePVTdjxA?si=iQy15KUXgoiF_SmT) [^4]: [10 Tips for Writing MIDI Drums in REAPER - YouTube](https://youtu.be/pTYMKf1lJKo?si=hx-p0aPsSy1JpNgL) [^5]: [Sower Sequencer Extension in REAPER - YouTube](https://youtu.be/3Zy9iomVBZU?si=g9KDkKL29gLMo2wl)
