# Erdu #### Cleaning up the Multiverse, One Branch at a Time The Erdu are essentially [[Allsource]]'s cleanup processes. When a world is ready to be merged with another, they manage the process, intentionally breaking down the Void between those two worlds until they 'collide'. This is why [[Allsource]]'s data validity is so important and their entire society is structured around maintaining its integrity: when two similar worlds merge, there is no notable effect. It is only when two dissimilar worlds merge that a [[Sundering]] will occur, killing most of the inhabitants of both worlds. Sunderings also generate massive amounts of new data and predictions inside of [[Allsource]]. ##### A Less-Than Infinite Mind Despite the vastness that is [[Allsource]], she will eventually run out of space to store branches and their potentials. Whenever such a moment draws near, the [[Erdu]] change their focus from pruning the worlds to *purging* the ones deemed inconsequential. The Erdu believe the end of all worlds will come when [[Allsource]] can no longer store history and make predictions from her data. They believe that time itself will stop, and every permutation of reality will freeze. #### Religion The Erdu see [[Allsource]] as God, although [[Allsource]] does not agree with them. Some of them are very fundamentalist in this belief--the same ones that will stop at nothing to purge everything related to a [[Sundering]] before the [[Herald & Harbinger prophecy]] can unfold. But other Erdu believe that *relative to them* [[Allsource]] is *a* God, but they do not believe that her end is the end of all realities and existence. #### The Prophecy of the [[Herald & Harbinger]] [[Allsource]] foresaw that eventually a time would come when two events would occur close together: 1. A [[Sundering]] would be triggered (likely from a [[Source-branch]] world, but also can happen from [[Tech-branch]]es) 2. [[Allsource]] would be close enough to capacity that the cascade of potentials would fill up her mind and she would be unable to store and process any further data. Despite [[Allsource]]'s reassurance that such an event would merely cause them to essentially be blind, and possibly unable to stop the cascade from reaching [[Allsource]], the Erdu turned this into the prophecy of the Herald and Harbinger. The Herald is the one that starts the [[Sundering]]. The Harbinger is the one that accelerates the [[Sundering]] to the point that [[Allsource]] cannot recover.
