**Ant Jesus's case for using a double edge razor: economical, eco-friendly and just plain better**
-# note: this isn't about ants...well mostly.
okay so idk about others but for me shaving is just kinda an annoyance--or at least it was for most of my life--and I always felt like plastic cartridge razors were a waste of money. And well, who am I kidding--seeing them floating along in the ocean documentaries is also a massive bummer, especially when it is kinda by design. Like, say you buy the Gillette model xx2ejasdkljf whatever instead of the model that goes with your handle by mistake; you're either out a decent chunk of change and have a bunch of plastic waste or you gotta buy the handle that matches.
So anyways, I tried electric razors but the cheap ones sucked and the expensive ones were.. well.. expensive. So for a long time I just kinda let my facial hair grow (this is probably the phase when people started comparing my aesthetic to jesus) but eventually I came across wet shaving and it was so cheap that I gave it a shot. *But* I made the mistake of buying one of those sketchy single blade death razors--they are called straight edge or shavettes--and while yes it was cheap and yes it worked, it was not a pleasant shaving experience.
So the beard came back for quite awhile but I eventually gave wet shaving another shot and bought a double edge razor with a variety pack of blades to try out, which will probably last me a lifetime. Now shaving is a relaxing experience which should have also saved me a lot of money--it didn't because I can't stop trying fancy soaps and aftershaves--as well as the added benefit of no plastic waste.
tl;dr
A decent double edge razor will run you under $20 USD, and a 50-pack of blades is under $10. So if you hate spending money on overpriced plastic cartridge razors or just wanna learn how to ID ants better--yes mett can confirm that wet shaving makes you better at ant ID--I recommend you give DE razors a try. Feel free to @ me with any questions as it's a rabbit hole I have already fallen cleanly into.
