*Life is an endless adventure for those who live by their wits. Ever just one step ahead of danger, rogues bank on their cunning, skill, and charm to bend fate to their favor. Never knowing what to expect, they prepare for everything, becoming masters of a wide variety of skills, training themselves to be adept manipulators, agile acrobats, shadowy stalkers, or masters of any of dozens of other professions or talents. Thieves and gamblers, fast talkers and diplomats, bandits and bounty hunters, and explorers and investigators all might be considered rogues, as well as countless other professions that rely upon wits, prowess, or luck. Although many rogues favor cities and the innumerable opportunities of civilization, some embrace lives on the road, journeying far, meeting exotic people, and facing fantastic danger in pursuit of equally fantastic riches. In the end, any who desire to shape their fates and live life on their own terms might come to be called rogues.*

### Class Features
#### Finesse Training (Ex)
At 1st level, a rogue gains [Weapon Finesse](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/weapon-finesse-combat) as a bonus feat. In addition, she can select any one type of weapon that can be used with [Weapon Finesse](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/weapon-finesse-combat) (such as rapiers or daggers). The rogue also selects one ability modifier, Dexterity or Intelligence. Once this choice is made, it cannot be changed. Whenever she makes a successful melee attack with the selected weapon, she adds her selected score modifier instead of her [Strength](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/ability-scores#TOC-Strength-Str-) modifier to the damage and attack roll. If any effect would prevent the rogue from adding her [Strength](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/ability-scores#TOC-Strength-Str-) modifier to the damage or attack roll, she does not add her [Dexterity](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/ability-scores#TOC-Dexterity-Dex-) or Intelligence modifier.
Starting at 3rd level, the rogue gains the Piranha Strike feat when using that weapon type.
The rogue can select a second weapon at 11th level and a third at 19th level. If a Rogue posses multiple non-prestige class levels she loses Finesse Training.
#### Trapfinding
A rogue adds 1/2 her level on [Perception](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/skills/perception) checks to locate traps and on [Disable Device](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/skills/disable-device) checks (minimum +1). A rogue can use [Disable Device](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/skills/disable-device) to disarm magic traps. Additionally, a rogue reduces the time to perform a disable device skill by one step to a minimum of a standard action.
#### Trapsmith
A rogue is legendary for their ability to find, disable, and recover traps. Some rogues can create elaborate traps out of scraps, loot, and perhaps a little bit of whimsy. A rogue may use traps a number of times per day equal to their Intelligence bonus + 1/2 rogue level (minimum of 1). Traps are selected from the [ranger trap list](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/ranger/archetypes/paizo-ranger-archetypes/trapper/ranger-traps/).
Setting a trap is a either a standard or full round action that provokes [attacks of opportunity](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Attacks-of-Opportunity). A trap fills a single 5-foot square, and cannot be placed in the same area as another trap such as a arrow trap or [glyph of warding](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/g/glyph-of-warding). A trap can be placed on a person with a sleight of hand check. The rogue only needs simple materials to create the [trap](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/traps-hazards-and-special-terrains), such as a piece of cloth, a small amount of metal (such as a dagger, iron spike, or a few nails), a foot of rope or vine, and so on. The DCs for [Perception](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/skills/perception) checks to notice the trap, [Disable Device](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/skills/disable-device) checks to disable it, and for [saving throws](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Saving-Throws) to avoid it are equal to 10 + 1/2 the character’s level + the character’s Intelligence bonus if they are aware.
Rogue traps are either extraordinary or supernatural; extraordinary traps are Type: mechanical, and supernatural traps are Type: magic. Some of the traps listed below may be set as extraordinary traps or as magical ([supernatural](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic#TOC-Supernatural-Abilities-Su-)) traps; An extraordinary trap has a –2 penalty to its DC. An extraordinary trap lasts 1 day per rogue level or until it is triggered, whichever comes first and requires a standard action. A magical trap lasts only 1 hour per level or until triggered, whichever comes first. A trap’s DC decreases by 1 for each full day (or hour, for a magical trap) that passes after it is set and requires a full round action. Traps marked with an asterisk add to or modify the effects of another trap; a ranger can add one of these trap types to any standard ranger trap (this costs 1 additional use of the trap ability).
#### Debilitating Injury (Ex)
At 4th level, whenever a rogue deals damage to a foe, she can also debilitate the target of her attack, causing it to take a penalty for 1 round (this is in addition to any penalty caused by a rogue talent or other special ability). The rogue can choose to apply any one of the following penalties when the damage is dealt. The rogue rolls a CMB check to determine if the penalty applies.
_Bewildered_: The target becomes bewildered, taking a –2 penalty to AC. The target takes an additional –2 penalty to AC against all attacks made by the rogue. At 10th level and 16th level, the penalty to AC against attacks made by the rogue increases by –2 (to a total maximum of –8).
_Disoriented_: The target takes a –2 penalty on [attack rolls](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Attack-Roll). In addition, the target takes an additional –2 penalty on all [attack rolls](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Attack-Roll) it makes against the rogue. At 10th level and 16th level, the penalty on [attack rolls](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Attack-Roll) made against the rogue increases by –2 (to a total maximum of –8).
_Hampered_: All of the target’s speeds are reduced by half (to a minimum of 5 feet). In addition, the target cannot take a 5-foot step.
*Flatfooted*: The target is considered flatfooted in respect to your sneak attack next round, this does not affect the targets AC. At 10th level and 16th level, the round count increases by one.
These penalties do not stack with themselves, but additional attacks that deal [sneak attack](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/unchained-classes/ROGUE-unchained/#TOC-Sneak-Attack) damage extend the duration by 1 round. A creature cannot suffer from more than one penalty from this ability at a time. If a new penalty is applied, the old penalty immediately ends. Any form of healing applied to a target suffering from one of these penalties also removes the penalty.
