*When the wealthy and the powerful need an enemy eliminated quietly and without fail, they call upon the ninja. When a general needs to sabotage the siege engines of his foes before they can reach the castle walls, he calls upon the ninja. And when fools dare to move against a ninja or her companions, they will find the ninja waiting for them while they sleep, ready to strike. These shadowy killers are masters of infiltration, sabotage, and assassination, using a wide variety of weapons, practiced skills, and mystical powers to achieve their goals.*

### Class Features
#### Finesse Training (Ex)
At 1st level, a ninja gains [Weapon Finesse](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/weapon-finesse-combat) as a bonus feat. In addition, she can select any one type of weapon that can be used with [Weapon Finesse](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/weapon-finesse-combat) (such as rapiers or daggers). The rogue also selects one ability modifier, Dexterity or Intelligence. Once this choice is made, it cannot be changed. Whenever she makes a successful melee attack with the selected weapon, she adds her selected score modifier instead of her [Strength](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/ability-scores#TOC-Strength-Str-) modifier to the damage and attack roll. If any effect would prevent the rogue from adding her [Strength](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/ability-scores#TOC-Strength-Str-) modifier to the damage or attack roll, she does not add her [Dexterity](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/ability-scores#TOC-Dexterity-Dex-) or Intelligence modifier.
Starting at 3rd level, the ninja gains the Piranha Strike feat when using that weapon type.
The ninja can select a second weapon at 11th level and a third at 19th level. If a Rogue posses multiple non-prestige class levels she loses Finesse Training.
#### Clandestine Bond (Ex)
At 2nd level, a ninja. This bond can take one of four forms. Once the form is chosen, it cannot be changed.
1. _Dirty Fighting:_ The ninja masters the art of subterfuge and leverages that in life or death combat.
At 2nd level, a ninja gains the Dirty Fighting feat. In addition, whenever a ninja attempts a [dirty trick](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Dirty-Trick) [combat maneuver](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Combat-Maneuvers), they treat their [base attack bonus](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Attack-Bonus) as equal to their level to determine their [combat maneuver bonus](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Combat-Maneuver-Bonus) and can always inflict any penalty listed in the [combat maneuver](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Combat-Maneuvers) regardless of circumstances.
At 4th level a ninja gains Improved Dirty Trick.
At 7th level a ninja gains Powerful Dirty Trick.
At 11th level a ninja gains Dirty Trick Master
At 14th level a ninja gains a free bonus feat.
At 18th level a ninja gains a free bonus feat.
2. _Spellcasting:_ The ninja masters the esoteric arts of spell casting. They are considered an occult caster.
A ninja casts psychic spells drawn from the ninja spell list (see below). A ninja must prepare their spells ahead of time, but unlike a [wizard](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/wizard), their spells are not expended when they’re cast. Instead, they can cast any spell that they have prepared, consuming a spell slot of the appropriate level, assuming they haven’t yet used up their spell slots per day for that level.
To learn, prepare, or cast a spell, the ninja must have a [Charisma](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/ability-scores#TOC-Charisma-Cha-) score equal to at least 10 + the spell’s level. The saving throw DC against a ninja’s spell is 10 + the spell’s level + the ninja’s [Charisma](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/ability-scores#TOC-Charisma-Cha-) modifier.
A ninja can only cast a certain number of spells of each spell level per day. Their base daily spell allotment is given on Table: Ninja under “Spells per Day.” In addition, they receive bonus spells per day if they have a high [Charisma](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/ability-scores#TOC-Charisma-Cha-) score.
A ninja may know any number of spells, but the number they can prepare each day is limited. At 2nd level, they can prepare three 0-level spells and two 1st-level spells each day.
At each new ninja level, the number of spells they can prepare each day increases, adding new spell levels as indicated on Table 2: Ninja Spells Prepared. And the ninja gains two new spells of any spell level or levels that they can cast (based on their new ninja level) to be tattooed on their body. Unlike the number of spells they can cast per day, the number of spells an ninja can prepare each day is not affected by their [Charisma](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/ability-scores#TOC-Charisma-Cha-) score. Feats and other effects that modify the number of spells known by a spellcaster instead affect the number of spells an ninja can prepare.
A ninja must choose and prepare their spells ahead of time by getting 8 hours of sleep and spending 1 hour meditating.
While meditating, the ninja decides what spells to prepare and refreshes their available spell slots for the day. Whenever the ninja increases in level.
Unlike other spellcasters, a ninja does not have a [spellbook](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment/goods-and-services/books-paper-writing-supplies#TOC-Spellbook) or similar item. Whenever a ninja learns a new spell, it manifests as a tattoo on their body (the design of the tattoo is determined by each individual ninja, but is generally around the size of a quarter sheet of paper). The ninja’s body can hold an unlimited number of tattoos due to their mystic nature, these tattoos often altering shape and size to accommodate other tattoos. As a [free action](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Free-Actions), a ninja may hide or expose any number of tattoos on their body. A ninja can also add spells as tattoos to their body just like a [wizard](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/wizard) adds spells to their [spellbook](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment/goods-and-services/books-paper-writing-supplies#TOC-Spellbook), using the same costs and time requirements, but cannot do so with another ninja’s tattoos. A ninja can study a wizard’s [spellbook](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment/goods-and-services/books-paper-writing-supplies#TOC-Spellbook) or similar items (such as an [arcanist’s](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/hybrid-classes/arcanist) [spellbook](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment/goods-and-services/books-paper-writing-supplies#TOC-Spellbook)) to learn any formula that is equivalent to a spell the [spellbook](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment/goods-and-services/books-paper-writing-supplies#TOC-Spellbook) contains. A [wizard](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/wizard), however, cannot learn spells from a ninja’s tattoos. A ninja does not need to decipher arcane writings before copying them. These tattoos are an inseparable part of the ninja’s soul, and fading away upon death and reappearing upon being returned to life, regardless of if they are reincarnated.
A ninja can choose to apply any [metamagic feats](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/metamagic-feats) they know to a prepared spell as they cast it, increasing its spell level and expending a higher level spell slot.
_Cantrips_: Ninjas can prepare a number of cantrips, or 0-level spells, each day, as noted on Table: Ninja under “Spells per Day.” These spells are cast like any other spell, but they are not expended when cast and may be used again.

3) _Combat Style Feat (Ex):_ At 2nd level, a ninja gains access to the following combat style:
The ninja’s expertise manifests in the form of bonus feats at 2nd, 6th, 10th, 14th, and 18th level. He can choose feats from his selected combat style, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites.
The benefits of the ninja’s chosen style feats apply **only** when he wears light, medium, or no armor. He loses all benefits of his combat style feats when wearing heavy armor. Once a ranger selects a combat style, it cannot be changed.
- [Distance Thrower](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/distance-thrower-combat), [Precise Shot](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/precise-shot-combat), [Quick Draw](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/quick-draw-combat), [Two-Weapon Fighting](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/two-weapon-fighting-combat).
- At 6th level, he adds [Close-Quarters Thrower](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/close-quarters-thrower-combat) , Rapid Shot, and [False Opening](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/false-opening-combat) to the list.
- At 10th level, he adds [Pinpoint Targeting](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/pinpoint-targeting-combat) and [Shot on the Run](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/shot-on-the-run-combat) to the list.
1. _Ki Pool:_ At 2nd level, a ninja gains access to monastic techniques from their disciplined training.
At 2nd level, a ninja gains a pool of _ki_ points, supernatural energy he can use to accomplish amazing feats. The number of points in a monk’s _ki_ pool is equal to 1/2 his monk level + his Charisma modifier. As long as he has at least 1 point in his _ki_ pool, he can make a [_ki_ strike](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/Unchained-classes/monk-unchained/#TOC-Ki-Strike-Su-). Ki points are treated as though they are grit, panache, or luck for the purpose of sharing a resource pool with those abilities. His ki goes up or down throughout the day, but usually cannot go higher than his Charisma modifier (minimum 1), though some feats and magic items may affect this maximum. A ninja spends ki to accomplish monastic techniques (see below), and regains ki in the following ways. A ninja can use monk weapons instead of unarmed attacks.
1) **Meditation**: The _ki_ pool is replenished each morning after 8 hours of rest or meditation; these hours do not need to be consecutive.
2) **Defense**: When the ninja reduces a creature to 0 or fewer [hit points](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Hit-Points) with a monk weapon while in the heat of combat, he regains 1 ki point. Destroying an unattended object, reducing a [helpless](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/conditions#TOC-Helpless) or unaware creature to 0 or fewer [hit points](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Hit-Points), or reducing a creature that has fewer [Hit Dice](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/glossary#TOC-Hit-Dice-HD-) than half the monk’s character level to 0 or fewer [hit points](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Hit-Points) does not restore any ki.
3) **Maneuvers**: When the ninja performs a combat maneuver with a monk weapon which ends the combat, he regains 1 ki point. Destroying an unattended object, attacking a [helpless](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/conditions#TOC-Helpless) or unaware creature to 0 or fewer [hit points](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Hit-Points), or a creature that has fewer [Hit Dice](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/glossary#TOC-Hit-Dice-HD-) than half the monk’s character level to 0 or fewer [hit points](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Hit-Points) does not restore any ki.
At 4rd level, [_ki_ strike](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/Unchained-classes/monk-unchained/#TOC-Ki-Strike-Su-) allows his unarmed attacks to be treated as magic weapons for the purpose of overcoming [damage reduction](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/special-abilities#TOC-Damage-Reduction).
At 7th level, his unarmed attacks are also treated as [cold iron](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment/special-materials#TOC-Iron-Cold) and silver for the purpose of overcoming [damage reduction](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/special-abilities#TOC-Damage-Reduction).
At 11th level, his unarmed attacks are also treated as lawful weapons for the purpose of overcoming [damage reduction](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/special-abilities#TOC-Damage-Reduction).
At 16th level, his unarmed attacks are treated as [adamantine](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment/special-materials#TOC-Adamantine) weapons for the purpose of overcoming [damage reduction](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/special-abilities#TOC-Damage-Reduction) and bypassing [hardness](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment/damaging-objects#TOC-Hardness).
**Monastic Techniques (Ex):**
- **Near Miss**: Once per round when the ninja misses all melee attack made with an unarmed strike against a creature due to not meeting their target’s armor class, they can deal damage equal to their Strength or Dexterity modifier (ninja’s choice) to that creature. The attack is still treated as a miss for the purpose of effects that would apply on a successful hit. The ninja can spend 1 point from his ki pool to double damage.
- **Additional Strike**: By spending 2 point from his _ki_ pool as a [swift action](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Swift-Actions), a ninja can make one additional [unarmed strike](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment/weapons/weapon-descriptions/strike-unarmed) at his highest [attack bonus](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Attack-Bonus) when making attack. This bonus attack stacks with all bonus attacks gained from, as well as those from [haste](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/h/haste) and similar effects.
- **Mind over Body**: By spending 3 point from his _ki_ pool as immediate action, a ninja can be considered as having one of the following feats for the rest of the combat or a minute which ever comes first: Lightning Reflexes, Iron Will, or Great Fortitude.
