These monks (so called since they adhere to ancient philosophies and strict martial disciplines) elevate their bodies to become weapons of war, from battle-minded ascetics to self-taught brawlers. Monks tread the path of discipline, and those with the will to endure that path discover within themselves not what they are, but what they are meant to be.*

**Role:** Monks excel at overcoming even the most daunting perils, striking where it’s least expected, and taking advantage of enemy vulnerabilities. Fleet of foot and skilled in combat, monks can navigate any battlefield with ease, aiding allies wherever they are needed most.
**Unleashed**: The monk has been reworked to feel more competent compared to its peers. Ki points have been unlocked earlier and now have a mechanic similar to grit for restore throughout the day. AC Bonus has been increased but only if not a multiclass character. This is due to the monk mostly being a dip class instead of a playable one. Ki techniques and bonus feats have also been expanded.

### Class Features
#### AC Bonus
When unarmored and unencumbered, the monk adds his [Wisdom](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/ability-scores#TOC-Wisdom-Wis-) bonus (if any) +2 to his AC and [CMD](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Combat-Maneuver-Defense). In addition, a monk gains a +2 bonus to AC and [CMD](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Combat-Maneuver-Defense) at 4th level. This bonus increases by 2 for every four monk levels thereafter, up to a maximum of +10 at 20th level. The untyped AC benefits of this ability do not stack with any armor or shield or spell bonuses of any kind.
These bonuses to AC apply even against touch attacks or when the monk is [flat-footed](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/conditions#TOC-Flat-Footed). He loses these bonuses when he is immobilized or [helpless](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/conditions#TOC-Helpless), when he wears any [armor](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/glossary#TOC-Armor-Bonus) or shield, or when he carries a medium or heavy load.
A monk loses this ac bonus if they change to a non-lawful alignment or possess levels in another non-prestige class.
#### Bonus Feat
At 1st level, 2nd level, and every 4 levels thereafter, a monk can select a bonus feat. These feats must be taken from the following list:

A monk can ignore two of the prerequisites of the feat when selecting. Additionally, for Style & Maneuver feats they will need to fulfill the predecessor feat requirement (ie Archon Diversion will require Archon Style).
#### Ki Pool
At 1st level, a monk gains a pool of _ki_ points, supernatural energy he can use to accomplish amazing feats. The number of points in a monk’s _ki_ pool is equal to 1/2 his monk level + his [Wisdom](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/ability-scores#TOC-Wisdom-Wis-) modifier. As long as he has at least 1 point in his _ki_ pool, he can make a [_ki_ strike](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/Unchained-classes/monk-unchained/#TOC-Ki-Strike-Su-). Ki points are treated as though they are grit, panache, or luck for the purpose of sharing a resource pool with those abilities. His ki goes up or down throughout the day, but usually a monk cannot gain daily ki higher than 1/2 his [Wisdom](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/ability-scores#TOC-Wisdom-Wis-) modifier (minimum 1), though some feats and magic items may affect this maximum. A monk spends ki to accomplish monastic techniques (see below), and regains ki in the following ways. A monk can use monk weapons instead of unarmed attacks for his abilities.
1. **Meditation**: The _ki_ pool is replenished each morning after 8 hours of rest or meditation; these hours do not need to be consecutive.
2. **Defense**: When the monk reduces a creature to 0 or fewer [hit points](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Hit-Points) with a monk weapon while in the heat of combat, he regains 1 ki point. Destroying an unattended object, reducing a [helpless](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/conditions#TOC-Helpless) or unaware creature to 0 or fewer [hit points](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Hit-Points), or reducing a creature that has fewer [Hit Dice](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/glossary#TOC-Hit-Dice-HD-) than half the monk’s character level to 0 or fewer [hit points](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Hit-Points) does not restore any ki.
3. **Maneuvers**: When the monk performs a combat maneuver with a monk weapon which ends the combat, he regains 1 ki point. Destroying an unattended object, attacking a [helpless](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/conditions#TOC-Helpless) or unaware creature to 0 or fewer [hit points](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Hit-Points), or a creature that has fewer [Hit Dice](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/basics-ability-scores/glossary#TOC-Hit-Dice-HD-) than half the monk’s character level to 0 or fewer [hit points](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Hit-Points) does not restore any ki.
At 3rd level, [_ki_ strike](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/Unchained-classes/monk-unchained/#TOC-Ki-Strike-Su-) allows his unarmed attacks to be treated as magic weapons for the purpose of overcoming [damage reduction](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/special-abilities#TOC-Damage-Reduction).
At 7th level, his unarmed attacks are also treated as [cold iron](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment/special-materials#TOC-Iron-Cold) and silver for the purpose of overcoming [damage reduction](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/special-abilities#TOC-Damage-Reduction).
At 10th level, his unarmed attacks are also treated as lawful weapons for the purpose of overcoming [damage reduction](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/special-abilities#TOC-Damage-Reduction).
At 16th level, his unarmed attacks are treated as [adamantine](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment/special-materials#TOC-Adamantine) weapons for the purpose of overcoming [damage reduction](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/special-abilities#TOC-Damage-Reduction) and bypassing [hardness](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment/damaging-objects#TOC-Hardness).
**Monastic Techniques (Ex):**
- **Near Miss**: Once per round when the monk misses all melee attack made with an unarmed strike against a creature due to not meeting their target’s armor class, they can deal damage equal to their Strength or Dexterity modifier (monk’s choice) to that creature. The attack is still treated as a miss for the purpose of effects that would apply on a successful hit. The monk can spend 1 point from his ki pool to double damage.
- **Additional Strike**: By spending 2 point from his _ki_ pool as a [swift action](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Swift-Actions), a monk can make one additional [unarmed strike](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment/weapons/weapon-descriptions/strike-unarmed) at his highest [attack bonus](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Attack-Bonus) when making a [flurry of blows](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/Unchained-classes/monk-unchained/#TOC-Flurry-of-Blows) attack. This bonus attack stacks with all bonus attacks gained from [flurry of blows](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/Unchained-classes/monk-unchained/#TOC-Flurry-of-Blows), as well as those from [haste](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/h/haste) and similar effects.
- **Mind over Body**: By spending 3 point from his _ki_ pool as immediate action, a monk can be considered as having one of the following feats for the rest of the combat or a minute which ever comes first: Lightning Reflexes, Iron Will, or Great Fortitude.
