### What sparks my interest?
- Neurodiversity is something I would like to talk more about
- I truly think that safe space is the foundation
- In teams, ideally, we're all slightly different
- Even without a neurodiversity, it's already an intense space
- WITH neurodiversity, it can be either...
- harder
- or better, depending on shared expectations and rules and boundaries and safety
- See the workshop with the GEF team.
- The break-out room introduction
- Where I explicity stated and called for a safe space
- It clearly allowed the group to come up with better interactions
- Communication was better, more honest
- Example: 7 people in the group
- Caroline, the top-top stakeholder, so she's the BOSS of their BOSS
- Amanada, just joined the team
- And I'm asking them to share what questions they have for research
- I'm basically asking them to say "Here's what I don't know."
- That's an incredibly vulnerable place with your team
- Without a safe space, it's stressful place if your boss is in the same room
- Without a safe space, it's EVEN more stressful if your BOSSES-BOSS is there, too
- But by 'invoking' the safe space, and with the amazing leadership skills from Caroline, the discussion was very open and honest and PRODUCTIVE
- See the Economist article
- My story of safe space and supporting your team-mates is yet another example
- Take the Empire State building...
- The Empire State Building was constructed in just 13 months, and that included the dismantling of the Waldorf-Astoria hotel that sat on the site.
- Workers were paid and treated well
- Success of the Empire state buildling still stands today
- I love New York and have marveled at the Empire State Building hundreds of times
- **I wish that we created safe-spaces for everyone, not just neuro-diverse/neuro-divergent people, more often because if we treat each other well, wonderous things emerge.**
- **I wish that more marvelous things like the Empire State were built because they give us hope and inspire to dream further and bigger.**
- **A way of working that lets us succeed not _against the odds_ but _for each other_**
