# Pick a Niche Article
#marketing #interviews #facebook
A long-form blog post / sales letter by [[Notes on Dane Maxwell]] about testing and picking a niche and run interviews about their problems *before* investing time and money.
A way to source interview candidates for my [[300 In-Depth Interviews Challenge]].
## Key Ideas
- Test which niches work best instead of picking niches randomly
- The right niche is measured by how much it costs to acquire a conversation and if those people buy stuff
- A niche also a place "to belong and promote"
- A niche is a group of people that have similar needs which are not served well at the moment: Plus-sized athletic women
- Example: Ran ads for his own album with different audiences and found a niche by accident afterwards: "Females 35-44"
- You have to have passion for work
- Pick 4 niches I can imagine working in
- Find a group on facebook for each niche
- Ask the group about their pain points
- Watch which group/niche responds
- Get one-on-one problem-centered conversations with 15 members in each community to get basic problems for ads
- Run chat-bot ads based on the problems discovered ($15 for each niche) -> 5 Question Interviews
- Compare how much it cost to get a conversation to how much money spent
