Inspired by [[What I love about F.K.]] who I saw reading and highlighting a PDF as the first step for her to absorb new ideas and content. I then wondered if it could be possible to extract those into Obsidian more easily to bridge the gap from reading/noting to connecting. **Turns out, highlights in PDFs are FUCKING INSANELY HARD and it took me weeks and months to figure this out.** ## Example - Highlighted PDF: [[How Joe Biden got his sizeable stimulus bill through the Senate.pdf]] - Extracted Highlights: [[Highlights for "How Joe Biden got his sizeable stimulus bill through the Senate"]] ## Settings - Include page number - Include parker color - Include auto-links ### Possible future settings - Create MOC page - Explode mode ### Known issues - Multi-line sentences are not given space between two words - Doesn't work with any PDF highlights ## Feature ideas - Optionally deep-link to PDF page (see issue on Github for details) - "Explode" feature that creates all notes with quote automatically on creation - Title-sanitization needed before creating the notes ## Notes - Some PDF apps create highlights that can't be parsed with my code ## Source - https://github.com/akaalias/obsidian-extract-pdf-highlights - ![[Attachments/Photo on 28.04.21 at 15.11.jpg]]
