I’ve created an empowering and fun new Retrospective format for myself. I’ve enjoyed it tremendously.
I’ve found that the more I focus on the good that’s happening in my life, the better I feel.
I call the format **"Highlights, Blessings and Successes.”**
As you probably guessed it, you collect and appreciate exactly the things that went well.
- **Highlights** – For me, that’s usually unexpectedly cool things that happened either with or without my doing.
- **Blessings** – For me, that’s usually something I take for granted but that makes my life so much easier.
- **Successes** – For me, that’s usually something I did and that I completed.
In your day, week, month or year.
It’s super easy and I want you to try it.
Make an (unordered) list of all the things that were good. You don’t have to know yet if they’re a highlight, blessing or success. Just make a list and when you go through it again, you can mentally or with a pen categorize each item.
It’s really simple and really fun. I have even started to just mentally go through the day and recap and think about “What were my highlights?”, “What am I blessed with?”, “How did I succeed today?”
