## What is probing?
- Seeking more information to uncover insights, by asking questions
- In the community, you can probe within discussions, conversations and journeys/journals
- You can't probe in surveys
## Effective probing examples
### Always say thank you, NAME
Before asking your question, make sure you show your appreciation and use the member's name so they know you're also a human being.
> Hello and thank you so much, NAME for sharing your thoughts.
### Frame your question
Sometimes it can help to add context to your question such as
> You mentioned "This and that and that"...
### Questions
Finally, add your question:
> "Tell me a little more about that."
- Could you please help me understand what you mean by this?
- How is that for you?
- Could you explain a little more?
- Tell me more about this...
- Could you give an example on what you mean by this?
- What makes you say that?
- Have you had experiences with this before? In what ways?
### Avoid asking flatly "Why?"
- Why can be too direct and literally questioning their person
### Health more sensitive
- Stay professional and more formal
