## Part I Recommends to read the [[Great Books]] because they're original. It's a waste of time to read derivative work. ## Part II Three approaches to analytical reading done together will squeeze out everything the book has to offer: 1. Understanding the structure and purpose of the book: _"What problem is the author trying to solve here?"_ 2. Try to understand, after figuring out any words that may be new, each proposition the author makes _"What are the arguments the author uses?"_ 3. Finally, critique the book on the value of the propositions. _"How sound are the arguments?"_ ## Part III Unclear ## Part IV The goal of reading is deep and broaden ones knowledge across many fields to grow the mind. ## Source Author: Mortimer J.
