# Interview Learnings An ongoing collection of things I’m learning while doing this [[300 In-Depth Interviews Challenge]]. What works, what doesn’t, what’s unclear etc. ## Interview 1 – Jonathan Najarian: Debrief - Source: [[Interview 1 – Jonathan]] First of all, FIRST INTERVIEW DONE MOTHERFUCKERS!!!! Big success, gotta make sure I give myself the props for this. Took me a while but I think this has worked well. It was a lovely experience to talk with [[Jonathan Najarian]] and I think we did well, both of us, to create that space and move forward in it. I think that was a lot of fun, we had good, heart-felt moments and we co-created an interesting idea. I’m glad I did it with him actually, that’s a good place to start. And I even have video and audio now, so I could publish it somewhere safe for starting to build my portfolio… Transcript didn't work so well BUT at least it only cost $10 on Temi.com – Good to know for next time. Might need to find a better service specialized in interview transcription. * Happy: FIRST INTERVIEW DONE! Gotta celebrate that as a fucking VICTORY! Good talking to a friend, noted when he got anxious, short breathing exercise to get out of anxiety, note-taking allowed me to repeat/reflect what he said, “I’ve got 12 dirty kitchens waiting for me, weighing me down”, recording good enough to post, zoom audio file right there, too. I didn’t drive a solution or almost didn’t at least (I suggested pick-up), put a $-sign to the pain, zoom worked out well. I thought it was a sweet idea to have grandmas cook food. * Meh: Okay solution, not sure if I pressed hard enough on it, was the best solution really a home-cooked meal, maybe he wanted to please me with an idea but he didn’t seem completely sold on it, how can I test that level of desire better next time? * Sad: I wish I had more time to talk, my hard-stop bothered me. * Learned: Good to take notes, good to notice and reflect when things heat up, nice to take a breather and not get caught up, definitely use notes to reflect right away, helped him hear himself * Questions: What will I do with the video? What will I do with the audio? What will I do with the transcript? Who can I interview next? After re-watching the full video, I noticed that the solution isn't really exciting for him. I saw him yawning towards the end and when I repeated the offer we created, the energy was relatively low still. I wonder what to make out of that. Did we go in a wrong direction? Is that really the biggest pain to begin with? If it were, why wasn't he (or myself) excited about the solution? Super interesting to think about and reflect because that lack of motivation towards a solution would only keep on happening even if the product existed. So, it's incredibly important to point to that now and know that the chances of success and the chances of solving [[Jonathan Najarian]]'s time-issue is likely not going away with this. Also, there are tons of other meal services out there, why not use those? ### CPSO – Result - Customer: Wedding photographer starting out, looking to build his portfolio - Pain: Immense pressure and anxiety about not having time to edit past photos - Solution: Free up editing time with hearty grandma-made meals - Offer: Pickup 2 meals for 2 once a week for a month for $75 * Pain-level: 8/10 (?) * Solution-level: 5/10 (?) ## Related - [[Build a Biz in 2 Hours Course]] - [[Interview 1 – Jonathan]] ### Tags - #100daychallenge - #retrospective - #learning
