![[get-deserve-take.jpeg]] ## What is this about? - A quote that I read/heard/saw somewhere I can’t remember (I think it was a TV show) → Peaky Blinders (Lizzie Shelby S5.Ep3: Strategy) - It’s about accepting that when we say “life is unfair” it’s mostly that we expect that, because we’re good kids, we get what we deserve (which of course is everything) when in reality, you only get what you decide and ensure you TAKE ## Why does this matter to ME? - Because: I’ve spend most of my adult life expecting good things to happen to me because I thought I deserved them - Because: I’ve too often NOT GOTTEN what I deserved (even if it would have been the cosmically right thing for me to receive) - Because: By accepting the idea that I CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT GETTING WHAT I WANT actually sounds pretty good to me ## How can I show this? - Food on my plate - An active and fitting social life - A roof over my head - A satisfying love-life - A well-paying, fun and interesting job - Long-term stable income-generating assets - “A SEAT AT THE TABLE” - An example is my work situation: - Given my competencies, I _deserve_ to sit at the table with the best of them but in reality I’m sitting here alone because I expect someone to hand me a seat at the table - You only get a seat at the table by wanting it, seeing it and taking it and not accept that someone may disagree with me ## Related - Learning “wanting” and “taking” and “holding” since my fingernails have started to grow back
