# Three types of burnout
According to Ali Abdaal in his book [[Feel-Good Productivity]] there are three types of burnout:
- Overexertion burnout: simply doing too much work.
- Depletion burnout: integrating too little meaningful rests throughout our days for an extended period. Not just shorter rests throughout the day but longer rests which recharge the mind.
- Misalignment burnout: doing too much over a long period that doesn't align with our values or where we want to be in the future. - High workload
- Low perceived control
- Low reward
