# Representativeness heuristic
People assume that "like goes with like."
This is exemplified in the representative heuristic which describes the shortcut of judging the probability of something by its similarity to a category rather than it's actual probability. For example, saying someone who likes books, wears glasses, and is quiet must be a librarian because Librarians typically have those features even though a librarian is a very unlikely job and they are more likely a banker.
Effects caused by representative heuristic:
- [[Conjunction fallacy]]
- [[Fluent stimuli are judged as better and more true]]
- [[Regression fallacy]]
