If you get comfortable lying in one context, you will be more likely to lie in another. The worst person you can lie to is yourself. Because when you consistently lie to yourself, you take away your power to change for the better. After all, if you can't be honest about your shortcomings how can you make change? One of the solutions is talked about in [[Anna Lembke]]'s book [[Dopamine Nation]]. In it she discusses the power of radical honesty in making changes for the better. Radical honesty is an identity which involves being radically honest—telling the truth about things large and small, especially when doing so exposes our foibles and entails consequence. Being radically honest, creates the stepping stone for behavior change. Awareness and recognition are the first steps to change.
