# Information gap theory
Information gap theory describes how we are motivated to learn to fill gaps in knowledge that we want to know.
According to the theory we are more motivated to learn when we feel the information gap we have to fill is small. This suggests that to build curiosity we should set many small learning goals in pursuit of a larger one.
**How a problem is framed can profoundly shape curiosity.**
