CDate:: [[12-12-2023]] Status:: #🌱 Tags:: Links:: [[Self Deception MOC]] # Imagined versus natural orders A natural order is a stable order that exists outside the domain of humans. Gravity, planets, the Universe, for example. Imagined orders, however, are social constructs that wouldn't exist without continual human belief in them. For example, human rights, Christianity, Buddhism, and more are all imagined orders. Without human intervention constantly keeping them afloat, they would disappear immediately. The universe doesn't care about imagined human orders. Three main factors keep people from realizing the orders organizing their lives are only in their imagination: 1. Imagined orders exist in the material world. Capitalism is all around us. In shopping centers, in books, in ads we see on television. 2. Imagined orders shape our desires. We are [[Socialization MOC|socialized]] to desire certain things over others, but we usually aren't aware of this socialization. 3. The imagined order is inter-subjective. It doesn't exist objectively. That's a natural order. It doesn't exist subjectively, because the imagined order goes beyond any individual human. Therefore the imagined order exists on the transjective scale or inter-subjective scale. N: [[Socialization MOC]] I learned this from [[Sapiens A Brief History Of Everything]].
