# Heuristics
"Often times it's not that the right answer is too hard, it's that the wrong answer is too easy."
Heuristics are automatic assessment processes that come from our [[System 1]] mode of thinking. One effect that shapes most heuristics is the [[Exposure effect]].
Most common heuristics:
- [[Availability heuristic]]
- [[Affect heuristic]]
- [[Representativeness heuristic]]
Much of the time, heuristics help us think faster in the moment. However, sometimes they are maladaptive. How can we overcome heuristics?
