Define your business metrics. Figure out what is important to you. Customer retention. Friend sharing. Conversion. 2. Determine the desired actions in chronological order that get those business metrics higher. Figure out 3. Define your player and what core drives motivate them most. Are they someone motivated by epic meaning and calling, empowerment of creativity and feedback, or scarcity and impatience? Make sure these are aligned with the desired actions you are trying to get them to take. 4. Define the win state. What thing occurs when players take the desired actions that make them feel good and lead to the business metric. They can be felt through extrinsic rewards or more intrinsic rewards like fireworks on screen when you buy something. Your desired actions, win state, and business metrics should always be aligned. 5. Define the feedback mechanics that show players how players are doing on the path to the win state through their desired actions. Applying the strategy dashboard to Reimagining Education. 1. Business metrics. Percentage of course finished. Conversion rate. Joining the Discord. 2. Desired actions: Person finds out about course through email newsletter, YouTube video, podcast, or blog. They are sent to a landing page with the course. They are prompted to buy the course with a free 30 day refund period. Inside of the course there is a community discord link shared on the home page. The course links themselves have to do list toggles that motivate players to continue throughout the course so they can see their progress. 3. Our player is motivated by CD1, CD2, CD3 and CD5. They want to get out of the cookie cutter mindset. They want to create a knowledge base that they feel is unique and scales with them across semesters. 4. Win State. The win state is toggling the completion of each course lesson. They also see their grades increasing as they finish the course. Maybe we could have the exclusive interview with Nick Milo available through the community discord if people join it. Also that's where new course updates are given. That's the community hub where people can get access to new content outside of the course. 5. Feedback. Toggling of course to dos as lessons are finished. Students grades getting better throughout the course. Students doing action items at the bottom of course lessons. We should have a tally form link in the Obsidian vault for people to give feedback on the course.
