# Attitudes, Behaviors, and Rationalization
%%Add to decision making moc%%
Attitudes describe our evaluations of something on a positive negative scale and often involve our [[Emotions MOC]] in the moment.
There are five main ways to assess attitude:
1. Likert scale measuring. Asking someone their attitudes on a 1 to seven scale.
2. Response latency. How long it takes someone to respond to a question reflecting attitude. The quicker the more confident that persons attitude is toward that thing.
3. Implicit attitudes measures. How someone reacts implicitly to reflect their attitude like bodily movements, verbal cues, or immediate reactions to something.
4. Physiological factors. Heart beat for example.
[[Attitudes are usually not always a good predictor of someone's behavior in the moment]].
## Rationalization
In the process of [[Decision Making MOC]] and after a decision is made, humans try to rationalize their choices.
Two of the dominant theories for how we do this are [[Cognitive dissonance theory]] and [[Self-perception theory]].
