# Journaling
Why journal?
- Helps you understand yourself
- Helps you deepen your relationship with others
- Helps you improve your emotional regulation
- To become your own coach
- To give yourself the space you need to process that you often don’t give in your everyday life
- Helps you think through hard decisions
How to begin journaling:
- Start small. Ask yourself how your routines, habits, and various activities you are doing are making you feeling.
- If you want to start really small ask yourself in the morning while brewing coffee, or waking up, "how am I feeling right now? Where do I feel it in my body? How would I like to feel?"
- Journaling is just reflection. That's it.
- Before systematizing your journaling you should know the objective. To ask two questions: who am I? Who do I want to become?
- The tool you come to journaling matters much less than doing the practice. Marcus Aurelius didn't have Obsidian when he was journaling thousands of years ago.
