You’re the same the whole way through. Write about who you are THEN. - Give the stories that matter for your themes. You can’t include everything. You need to have some themes for the book. - To remember what happened during specific periods when writing a memoire, re-immerse yourself back in that period. Listen to the music, eat the same food, speak to those people.
