# Premise
There’s only one way to get superpowers: join a multinational crime conglomerate called the Soul Stealers, write your name in a registry, and spend the rest of your life doing The Necromancer’s bidding. Or you could choose to not have superpowers and forever be at the mercy of the Soul Stealers and their subsidiary mafia branches. No matter what choice you make, your outcome is bleak.
And it’s even worse for the nine unlucky saps who woke up one day with powers that *didn’t* come from the Soul Stealers. They’ve spent their days hiding their illegal powers, praying the Soul Stealers won't find them. They’ve spent their nights entangled in dreams that aren’t theirs—dreams of torture, dreams of each other, dreams of a mysterious girl named Ilia.
One day, a letter brings them together. What happens next is a mix of manipulation, misfortune, and sacrifice that forces the group to assume their place as pawns in a war between gods. This would be easier, perhaps, if the gods were not so broken themselves.
# About
This is just a silly little passion project that I’ve been working on since 2019. Over the years, as I’ve written and rewritten it, the world has been shaped by the players of every campaign I’ve ever DM’ed. For the full foreword to this story, see [[Foreword|here]]. As this is a passion project, updates will be sporadic.
